Biography

In search of freedom, Hoa
Van Tran escaped by boat in
1980 from the Communist
Regime of Vietnam. Since
arriving in Orange County in
1980, he has fought against
adversity. He has held
various jobs from picking
strawberries to being a
custodian while attending
high school.
To protect freedom and
democracy, Hoa Van Tran
joined the U.S. Army in
1984. His brother, Su Van
Tran, also joined the U.S.
Navy at the same time. Hoa
Van Tran is a former
Military Intelligence
Officer with the U.S. Army.
He served during the First
Gulf War in Saudi Arabia in
1991 and in West Germany
during the Cold War between
1984 and 1986. |

He served in the U.S. Army
and U.S. Army Reserve for
over 15 years and received
numerous medals and awards.
After coming back from the
Gulf War, he worked full
time for the Orange County
Public Defender Office and
attended law school at the
same time.
Hoa Van Tran is a practicing
attorney in Garden Grove,
representing consumers and
small businesses. He is also
the Vice President of the
Vietnamese American
Democratic Club (VADC) and a
Board Member of the
Democratic Foundation of
Orange County.
Hoa Van Tran has always been
a 1st District resident,
alternating between the
cities of Santa Ana and
Garden Grove. He has been
married to Amy for twelve
years, and together they
have a two-year-old
daughter. His wife works as
an engineer in defense and
aerospace for Boeing
Company. They now live in
Garden Grove, Orange County. |
